Sphaeromatid genus aggregates

Hypothesized sphaeromatid genus aggregates

Many new genera of sphaeromatids have been described in the past few decades. Existing sphaeromatid subfamily groupings based on pleopod morphology are no longer valid. Revising the relationships of sphaeromatid genera is the focus of this Project.

We are working with a hypotheses of the "Sphaeromatidae" as "aggregates" of genera. These "aggregates" are based on unpublished and preliminary morphological analyses. Note that some aggregates presently belong to more than one subfamily, and presently 26 genera (incertae sedis) cannot be classified according to any current sub-familial definitions.
